Today is the start of the Chinese New Year, the year of the pig. The pig represents wealth and treasure in Chinese culture due to their important in an agrarian society. If you’re born during the year of the pig (birth years 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019), you are believed to be philanthropic and generous, but also disciplined and hard working. Pigs are very social and friendly (some might say too friendly), enjoy entertaining, and have a love for life.
Last Sunday, the residents of The FIZZ Spartaan already came together to celebrate this. The Chinese students are a long way from home, but they have found each other and connected within the community of The FIZZ. Together with other international students they enjoyed good Chinese food and played traditional games.
